An interesting novel of governmental intrigue, Stephen King's Firestarter centers around the McGee family and their special powers. Vicky and Andy McGee were both part of a governmental experiment and as a result developed abnormal abilities, such as telekinesis and mind domination. Their daughter, Charlene McGee, somehow inherited pyrokenisis. The novel is devoted to the McGee's struggle to live a normal life together and not become puppets of the government that created them. Though largely about what the characters are thinking and feeling, it nevertheless manages to keep a fast pace.
